The technique of photofragment imaging is described, and several examples of thepower of the technique are presented. Two-dimensional images of state-selectedphotofragments from the photodissociations of CD 3 I and H 2 S illustrate how photofragmentimaging reveals β parameters, brancing ratios, Doppler profiles and vectorcorrelations. Comparisons are made with Doppler profiling and one-dimensionaltime-of-flight techniques.
