This paper presents the mean streamline analysis usingthe empirical loss correlations for performance prediction ofcross-flow fans. Comparison of overall performance predictionswith test data of a cross-flow fan system with a simplified vortexwall scroll casing and with the published experimentalcharacteristics for a cross-flow fan has been carried out todemonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method. Predictedperformance curves by the present mean streamline analysis agreewell with experimental data for two different cross-flow fans overthe normal operating conditions. The prediction method presentedherein can be used efficiently as a tool for the preliminarydesign and performance analysis of general-purpose cross-flowfans
