When deploying large antenna arrays in arcticenvironments, a local measurement system may be necessaryin order to ensure control over the position and phase ofthe individual antenna elements. In this paper, a method ofestimating the position and phase of each individual antennaelement in the presence of mutual coupling is presented. It usesboth measurements of the scattering matrix in the array andmeasurements of the electric field using a minimum of fourprobes located in the near field of the array. Simulations showthat the method gives accurate results even in the presence ofnoise in the measurements. The geometry of the probe-arraysystem affects the performance significantly
