We obtain the general solution and the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of the general cubic-quartic functional equation for fixed integers k with k not equal 0, +/- 1: f(x+ky)+f(x-ky) = k(2)(f(x + y) + f(x-y)) + 2(1-k(2))f(x) + ((k(4)-k(2))/4)(f(2y)-8(y))+(f) over tilde (2x)-16 (f) over tilde (x), where (f) over tilde (x)_f(-x).
