A patient with the clinical presentation of chronic abdominalangina is reported. The diagnosis was confirmed by angiographic studies whichrevealed stenosis of the celiac axis artery at its origin, as well as significant stenosis ofthe superior mesenteric artery near its origin. Transluminal angioplasty of the superiormesenteric artery was performed with success. After o ne year the patient is freefrom rain. This case demonstrates the efficacy of percutaneous transluminalangioplasty in this condition and the importance of careful history and physicalexamination in patients with chronic abdominal pain
