Bianco and colleagues show that prucalopride is an effective neuroprotective agent against oxidative stress. This work extends prior observations on 5-HT4-mediated neuroprotection and shows that a new treatment modality may soon be tested for efficacy against inflammatory bowel disease and neurodegenenerative disorders of the enteric nervous system.
