Solid oxide fuel cell development at NEDO, which was initiated in FY1989, entered a third phase in PY2001. During this phase, the development of thermally self-supporting modules and elemental studies to extend technology for SOFC adaptability are to be carried out. An overview of the SOFC R&D being accomplished by NEDO and the status of projects other than the NEDO project are presented herein.
