In March 1985, a group of computer professionals gathered in McLean, Virginia, to discuss issues regarding the application of computer security technologies to aerospace programs. That first conference, a one-day affair, featured nine papers in two tracks, attracted about 115 people, and was acclaimed a success. The Applied Computer Security Associates (ACSA) formed to continue the meeting on a regular basis, and three decades and roughly 1700 technical presentations later, the Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC) continues to fulfill its core mission to discuss issues related to the practical application of computer security technology. Welcome to the thirtieth meeting of ACSAC! This year's meeting continues the strategic focus on cyberphysical system security began last year with even more peer-reviewed papers and expert panels. We also continue our discussion about the practical integration of security engineering with system engineering and building trustworthy, resilient systems. ACSAC 30 presents the latest in cybersecurity research, hosts workshops in layered assurance, malware memory forensics, and program protection and reverse engineering, and provides training in the latest technologies and security standards. As a special feature, ACSAC will celebrate the golden anniversary of the Multics project with a distinguished panel of Multicians who will discuss Multics' influence on information security and examine how the world has---and has not---embraced Multics' core security principles.
