Modeling manufacturing systems: an information-based approach

W e describe an Integrated Simulation Mod. eling Environment (ISME) which utilizes a n information-based approach f o r the description of manufacturing systems. Manufacturing systems are described as a higher level aggregation of t he objects in the system. Such a description i s stored in a relational database. Models a r e l a t e r synthesized f rom the description of t he system. Experimental condit ions are input t o guide the analysis.
