The screening of nuclear reactions in stars takes place under the special conditions that the total number of particles in the screening cloud is of the order of unity. Hence, standard mean field theory is not expected tobe valid. We demonstrate by the use of Molecular dynamics that fluctuations dominate the screening and lead to a smaller screening compared with the predictions of the classical mean field theory.
