nN backward scattering data above 5 GeV /c are analyzed in terms of the baryon Regge pole exchange and accompanying Regge cut due to the strong absorption. The fit of the cross sections is reasonable. The role of the cut turns out to be very important: (1) The extrapolated magnitude of the L10 residue at a 4 =! is significantly larger than that without the cut. Ll0 residue with or without the wrong signature sense zero at a 4=t is equally probable. (2) Prediction of polarization in n+p-7prc+ is quite different from that without the cut. Moreover, large polarization in rc-p-7prc- is ecpected.
