We consider supersymmetric unification based on the gauge symmetrySU(3)_C\times SU(3)_L\times SU(3)_R supplemented by an anomalous U(1)_A gaugesymmetry. Realistic fermion masses and mixings are realized, including largemixings in the neutrino sector. We also consider the supersymmetric flavorproblem, gauge coupling unification and proton decay. The dominant proton decaymode is expected to be p-> e^+\pi^0 and the lifetime is estimated to be \sim10^{34}-10^{35} years.Comment: 18 pages, 1 figure, revised versio
