We report the wavelength-selective Raman and fluorescence spectra of monomeric and aggregate species of chlorophyll a in solution. The excitation profile for the molecular emission of the various chlorophyll complexes permit the construction of part of the electronic energy level diagram. For a T-shaped dimeric chlorophyll a, pseudo-exciton splittings of 667 cm −1 in the Soret and 397 cm −1 in the Q y bands are obtained.
