From the solvolysis of the pyridyldimethylcarbinyl chlorides in acetone–water and in methanol, σ + values of 0.73, 0.57, 1.13 and 0.72, 0.45, 1.14, respectively, are derived for the 2-, 3-, and 4-aza groups.
