Arsenobenzene reacts with CF 3 I to give C 6 H 5 As(CF 3 ) 2 , C 6 H 5 As(CF 3 )I, and C 6 H 5 AsI 2 . C 6 H 5 As(CF 3 )I and AgCl yield C 6 H 5 As(CF 3 )Cl. The compounds CF 2 =CFX react with (CH 3 ) 2 As—As(CH 3 ) 2 under mild conditions to give 1:1 adducts (CH 3 )As—CF 2 CFX—As(CH 3 ) 2 (X = CF 3 , Br). Some (CH 3 ) 2 As—CF=CF 2 is produced when X = Br and is the major product when X = I. When X = F a 1:4 adduct (CH 3 ) 2 As—(CF 2 CF 2 ) 4 —As(CH 3 ) 2 is probably formed on ultraviolet irradiation. (CH 3 ) 2 As—As(CH 3 ) 2 reacts with CF 3 C≡CCF 3 to give cis and trans (CH 3 ) 2 AsC(CF 3 )=C(CF 3 )As(CH 3 ) 2 and with [Formula: see text] to give (CH 3 ) 2 AsF and [Formula: see text].
