The preparation of 16β-carboxy-(5α)-17α-pregnane-3β-ol-20-one and 16β-carbomethoxy-3β-fluoro-17α-Δ5-pregnene-20-one, as well as several of their derivatives, is described. The stereochemistry of these compounds is deduced from their optical rotatory dispersion curves.
