A 78-year-old male who was undergoing prolonged glucocorticoid treatment experienced cough and expectoration for 2 weeks. Galactomannan antigen analysis and a chest computed tomography (CT) scan suggested a diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. DNA sequencing indicated thatEmericella nidulans var.echinulata was the causative agent. A combination of voriconazole and micafungin successfully treated the illness.
