We have developed a two-step method based on high-resolution melting (HRM) that reliably identifies species from theCryptococcus species complex (Cryptococcus neoformans var.grubii ,Cryptococcus neoformans var.neoformans , andCryptococcus gattii ). Our results indicate that HRM can provide a fast protocol to identify and distinguish among the mainCryptococcus species.
