Molecular analysis of a clinical sample confirmed the presence ofBorrelia bissettii DNA in cardiac valve tissue from a patient with endocarditis and aortic valve stenosis. This evidence strongly supports the involvement ofB. bissettii in Lyme disease in Europe.
