The nucleotide sequences that control transcription initiation and regulation inMycoplasma pneumoniae are poorly understood. In this work, we developed alacZ -based reporter plasmid that can be used to integrate fusions of promoter fragments to a promoterlesslacZ gene into the chromosome ofM. pneumoniae .
