A method is described for predicting the long-term movement of people on the ground, either on foot or driving vehicles, as a function of the terrain, weather, behavior, and situation (context). It uses the results of statistical simulations to estimate location probability distributions of where a vehicle or person may go in a given amount of time. Several applications are discussed including detecting possible gaps in sensor coverage, route planning, and mobile communications routing.
