Some commuters discovered lightweight electric scooters were the perfect solution for commuting. For others, the things were an unasked-for nuisance, blocking sidewalks when parked and barreling down on pedestrians when in motion. To better serve the customers and disarm the naysayers, the shared scooter will have to change. How companies deploy scooters, how cities incorporate them, and how manufacturers make them, all need better engineering. This article delves deeper into what needs to be done to make electric scooters viable.
