Focal points Recent review suggested that regional anaesthetic techniques have more favourable outcome than general anaesthetics techniques The study aimed to ascertain current practice of regional anaesthetic techniques A postal survey was sent to anaesthetists involved in anaesthetising patients for orthopaedic surgery in National Health Services trusts from three different regions in England The results indicate that current practice has changed from the trials included in the previously mentioned review Further research on the impact of modern anaesthetic drugs and techniques on outcome is needed
