This is the first article in an occasional series in which researchers will share their experiences of methodological issues. Some articles will draw attention to particular aspects of the research process while others will describe how methodological problems were resolved. In this article, the author discusses how interaction between members of a focus group influences the data obtained and should attract special attention when the data are analysed.
