During spore formation in streptomycetes numerous nucleoids are partitioned into uninucleoid compartments in parallel with the multiple septation of the hypha. Electron microscopic observations of sporulating hyphae of Streptomyces carpinensis showing defects in sporulation septum synthesis revealed a close association between chromosome partitioning and the later stages of septum formation.
