The complete sequence of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa β‐lactamase regulator gene ampR has been determined. The amino acid sequence encoded by this gene is compared with other members of the LysR family of transcription factors. The P. aeruginosa ampC promoter was subcloned and gel mobility shift assays were used to demonstrate specific binding of AmpR to the ampC promoter region.
