Purification of the regulatory protein B of the soluble methane monooxygenase complex from Methylococcus capsulatus (Bath) has revealed that the organism contains two forms of this protein, one of which appears to be a carboxy‐terminal truncate. Protein sequencing has confirmed the identity of these two proteins and allowed the identification of the gene encoding protein B on the methane monooxygenase gene cluster.
