Sodium butyrate affects viral gene expression of adenovirus with differences which depend upon the gene being expressed. In general, viral protein synthesis seems to be less affected than cellular protein synthesis. The amount of inhibition varies for each individual protein. Viral production is also inhibited in the presence of n ‐butyrate.
