Cellobiose uptake activity in Streptomyces granaticolor is considered to be inducible, cellobiose itself being the nutritional inducer. Uptake activity is energy‐dependent and may represent an active transport. Glucose inhibits the induction of the cellobiose uptake system, but not its activity.
