Chromosomal streptomycin(Sm) adenylyltransferase was detected in Sm‐susceptible derivatives of Bacillus subtilis Marburg 168. The enzyme was purified from one of the strains and its enzymological properties were investigated. The isoelectric point and m r of the enzyme were 6.0 and 35 000, respectively. The optimum pH was 8.0 and the optimum temperature for the inactivation of Sm was 35°C.
