Transport mutants resistant to 2‐deoxy‐ d ‐glucose were isolated by UV‐mutagenesis from a double auxotrophic strain of Trichoderma reesei QM9414. It was proved by protoplast fusion that they were altered at the same locus. The mutations were recessive and resulted in a defect of a general sugar transporting system with wide substrate specificity.
