In the present paper we investigate theoretically the influence of spectral anisotropy on the random walk of magnetic field lines. We compute analytically the field line diffusion coefficients and explore quasi‐linear and non‐linear regimes. The key result of this paper is that spectral anisotropy is a very important effect since field line wandering behaves quite differently for the different turbulence anisotropy regimes.
