SUMMARY We use the Born approximation in conjunction with body‐wave ray theory to derive a readily computable Fréchet sensitivity kernel, relating a finite‐frequency, seismic traveltime residual δ T to a perturbation δ d in the location of a discontinuity within the Earth.
