SUMMARY Techniques for the correction of the effect of the furnace signal on the data measured in the investigation of thermal changes of magnetic susceptibility of weakly magnetic rocks using the CS‐2 apparatus and KLY‐2 Kappabridge are described. A new method is developed for separating the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic room temperature susceptibility components even for the case in which new magnetite forms during heating.
