SUMMARY In order to obtain a better spatial definition of the structures which were activated during the Marche Adriatic coast seismic sequences in summer 1987 we relocated the earthquakes epicentres by means of an original computer code based on the ‘joint hypocentre determination’ technique. The sequences took place at sites which are considered of moderate seismicity although historical files contain information about stronger events that occurred in the surrounding areas. The activated structures belong to the outer Apennines front range and Adriatic foreland folds, respectively. The spatial trend shown in the results of our seismological analysis agrees with the main geological features known from literature.
