SUMMARY Assuming an Airy‐Vening Meinesz type of isostatic compensation with constant density contrast between crust and mantle and postulating zero isostatic anomaly, it is possible to calculate the depth of the Mohorovičić discontinuity from Bouguer gravity anomalies. The author gives an explicit solution of this uniquely solvable gravimetric inverse problem by means of integral formulae.
