SUMMARY Astatic magnetometers, operating within the Earth's magnetic field, can be used to measure simultaneously the magnetic remanence and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility ellipsoid of cubic or cylindrical rock and ore samples with susceptibilities greater than 3 times 10 ‐4 SI.
