Summary The palaeomagnetism of varved clays from Mochty and Plecewice which were deposited in the Warsaw Basin during the Middle Polish glaciation has been studied. Magnetite was identified as a main carrier of remanence. The discussion of palaeomagnetic directions and the secular variations of magnetic declination and inclination during an interval of 250 yr about 150 000 yr ago are described.
