Summary Seasonal variations of the solar, S , and lunar, L , daily geomagnetic variations are discussed in terms of the ratio of seasonal range to annual mean range, for data based on hourly mean values from 100 observatories for the interval 1957.5 to 1960.0. It is shown that, for all elements, the greatest and least values of the ratio occur at high latitudes for both S and L . The conflicting views of previous workers on the difference between seasonal variations of L and S are discussed in the light of the present results and those from longer series of data from a few observatories.
