Summary Gravity anomalies from complex structures can be interpreted by introducing models consisting of a number of elementary bodies. Least squares fitting of such models by iterative data processing involves two main problems, namely ambiguities inherent in inverse potential problems and poor convergency. The latter problem is discussed and illustrated using constructed examples.
