Summary Analysis of the 15 325 events reported for 1968‐1970 by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that there is a significantly higher seismic activity during night‐time than during other hours of the day. It is conjectured that the position of the Sun is the cause of this phenomenon.
