Summary An equation relating the duration of a dispersed impulse to the bandwidth, and to the dispersiveness of the dispersing system, is used to obtain a filter bandwidth variation with frequency which will maximize the temporal resolution of the multiple filter technique used for the analysis of seismograms. Computational results based on a synthetic seismogram are given.
