Summary The crust‐mantle structure in the Indo–Gangetic basin has been studied using Love wave dispersion data. The data have been interpreted for a structure having a homogeneous crust over a heterogeneous mantle where the density and rigidity increase linearly with depth as in the ‘Lehmann‐Bullen A” model. A comparative study with the dispersion curves for a layered model has been made.
