Summary Alternate hourly values of D, H and Z recorded at Eskdalemuir, Hartland, Lerwick and Valentia magnetic observatories have been analysed for lunisolar ( L ) daily variations. The most striking effect discovered is the enhancement of l 2 ( Z ) at coastal observatories. Various methods of editing the data in order to produce significant results are evaluated.
