Summary The technique of thermal demagnetization of the natural moment has allowed the separation of partial thermoremanences induced consecutively in a laterite by a lava and a dyke, and has shown that the lava baked the laterite to a higher temperature (>670°C) than did the dyke (>550°C). The evidence, along with other evidence previously presented, strongly suggests that the Earth's magnetic field was reversed when both bakings took place in Tertiary times.
