Summary. A practical method is given for using observations of vertical intensity to improve world isomagnetic charts of declination and horizontal intensity. The method involves the assumption that the contribution of the external part of the Earth's magnetic field is not significant. Results of the first cycle of the method are given, together with an indication of the degree of improvement to be expected.
