With the aim of decreasing but particularly validating the Defective Level of shipped circuits, new, elaborate and very often untractable fault models are proposed by the hardware testing community. On the other side, researchers of the software community have tried for twenty years to test their software without any (accurate) fault model. The aim of this panel session is to discuss the potential gain of examining the “applicability” of results of software testing techniques to a hardware testing methodology.
