Thispaper shows a user-oriented presence synthesizing system, where a user can control not only what she publishes to each buddy but what she sees by synthesizing her buddies’ presence. In our system we can see the conversation event and status of buddies, for example, Alice can see that Bob and Carol are chatting and join the conversation. We implemented it as a user agent of instant messenger, and confirmed that it expands our various communication opportunities on the Internet.
