Bouzit et al. [1] reported a 32-year-old woman with a Blaschkolinear cutaneous lupus erythematosus. They stated: ‘We report the second case of cutaneous linear lupus erythematosus occurring in an adult.’ This is not correct since more cases have been published [2, 3]. In 1996, we reported a 37-year-old man with a Blaschko-linear lupus erythematosus who was positive for RNP-type antinuclear antibodies and antiphospholipid antibodies [2]. The unilateral skin eruption involved the forearm, the arm, the axillary region and the chest. The eruption lasted 6 months and regressed spontaneously. Although nosology is difficult to establish in this Blaschko-linear inflammatory dermatosis, we agree with Bouzit et al. [1] and believe that cutaneous lupus erythematosus can occur in a Blaschko-linear pattern. However, it is not necessarily localized on the face as these authors stated, but it can also occur on other parts – even sun-protected ones – of the body, as was the case in the patient we reported.
