Bipolar emulation of the Intel 8080A microcomputer system is now possible with an emulator kit from Signetics. The kit is a microprogrammed microprocessor using Schottky LSI components to implement the 8080A emulation at speeds that allow expansion of existing 8080A-based systems with no change in software. According to Signetics, the emulator provides a 150 nsec microinstruction cycle time and a 150 nsec RAM access time.
